Motorola has finally managed to roll out the much awaited Android 2.2 Froyo update for the rugged Motorola Defy handset now. The latest Froyo update brings some new features along with few enhancements. Motorola writes that after installing Froyo update, the handset will be updated with 34.4.9 software.

    # Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot – Share high-speed connectivity with up to five other devices. 
    # Android Market Updates; Enhancements in apps. 
    Improved Home Screen – Shortcuts for instant access to phone functions, apps and the web browser Lock Screen – For entering a numeric pin or alphanumeric password. 
    Card App Storage – Save to and run apps from your Micro-SD card. 
    Automatic app update in Android Market. 
    Improved Performance – Faster website loading, faster user interface. 
    Updated users interface design.

To install Over-the-Air update, Motorola Defy owners need to select “Menu” > “Settings” > “About phone” > “System Updates” > “Download: > and select “Install”.
The Froyo update for Motorola Defy is weighing 120MB of size. Keep checking your Defy handset for the Froyo update.
